I would like to take time to add a special dedication to one of the most important people of Blue Heaven, John David Anglin (Saxy). His last words to me before he passed away were, " Don't worry David, I know my time is short. I have a special love for music and live to play, and will die playing music". I never spoke to John after that gig at Bob's Church; a fund raiser for the Battle Creek Haven of Rest Mission. In March of 2007, Blue Heaven was waiting to go on the stage at Gary Fields Comedy Court and John was late. This is not like John. Then a cell phone rang and it was to tell us that John had a heart attack and was in the hospital. We all were in shock and went on to play our set to find out later that John passed away after the paramedics worked on him for three hours. When Blue Heaven was invited to play John's church, and let me tell you John was a man of his word; he said he did not want anyone to look at his body and there would be a big party for him here and in heaven, when we made it there. John I am still mad at you because you made it to Heaven before me. Just kidding. It was standing room only, around 1000 people. What a great Day in the Lord. We had food and friends I hadn't seen in years and the music was great. David Brummett will never forget the picture of John playing his Sax and Keys in the middle of all the beautiful flowers at the church.
God Bless

Blue Heaven was very fortunate to have accomplished musician John Anglin on board for a brief time of about 3 years. John was a great arranger and vocalist, as well as a gifted keyboard, saxophone, and flute player, and a great friend. After a few Sunday Blues jam sessions, he was helping us to write and arrange our original tunes, as well as assist with suitable cover songs for our program. He was eager to help with computer and web site design, as well as ideas for bookings. While he did not think a person had to be one kind of Christian to play music, he did believe and have faith in his Lord, and was active in his local church. He loved life. He tried to do a lot of things, and have a lot of projects at the same time, which we know now was because he knew his time was short. He was not just a basement rocker like the rest of us, but a real musician, with love for other styles, which gave us balance in Blue Heaven. We miss you John. We think of you often when there is a Blue Heaven sky. I saw you cry when we played at Chapel Hill, and other times.
God Bless you my friend .
